The R-Value of 11 for the PinkCap cover is accomplished only when the cover is positioned on a flat surface (Platform) in the attic with no air leakage. Owens Corning does not supply any weatherstripping for the PinkCap cover to prevent air leakage. The PinkCap cover does not comply with the ENERGY STAR Home Sealing program due to the lack of weatherstripping and a latching device.

NOTE: The PinkCap cover is the exact same product as the Draft Cap cover from Atticap Corporation. Atticap is the manufacturer of the PinkCap for Owens Corning and their Draft Cap brand cover. The only difference is that one is blue and the other is pink in color. The Draft Cap cover sells for $145 on their website.

The McCoy covers are also superior to the Insulsure Attic Tent covers. The one model of Attic LadderMate will replace the four models of Attic Tent, eliminating the need for dealers and retailers to stock four models when they can stock just the Attic LadderMate. The Attic Tent also requires the purchase of a staple gun and staples and a caulk gun and caulk for the installation. The R-Value of 3 on the Attic Tent does not comply to the majority of Green Building programs across the country which recommend a minimum of R-5.

The biggest factor is the cost comparison between the McCoy covers and the Attic Tent (Up to $170 Difference, when you factor in that the McCoy covers eliminate the custom door construction and the finish trim). So you could purchase and install up to (3) Attic LadderMate covers for the price of (1) Attic Tent.
